WA has a long and slightly audacious history of engineering the impossible — from C.Y. O’Connor’s 566-kilometre Goldfields Water Supply Scheme and the creation of Fremantle Harbour, to the Ord River and Lake Argyle, Perth’s desalination plants and the extraordinary radio telescopes of the Square Kilometre Array.
Despite vast distances, hostile landscapes or technical challenges, people looked at what seemed impossible and engineered it anyway. We will hear from people involved in delivering or developing a range of interesting and impressive engineering feats across WA.
